Who we are
Cocohut Zanzibar is run by COCOHUT ZNZ LIMITED, a company registered in Zanzibar, Tanzania (registration number Z0000303773; address: 772V+G89, Kendwa, Zanzibar, Tanzania). Questions about your data: welcome@cocohutzanzibar.com.
Visiting this website
- We do not use cookies or advertising trackers on this website. Fonts and images are served from our own website.
- When you search for dates, your browser remembers the search for this visit only (in your browser's session storage), so we can show it again if you come back from the booking page. It is never sent to us.
- Our hosting provider keeps short technical logs (such as IP address and time of visit) to keep the website secure. Our website is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). Cloudflare keeps these logs only for a short time, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- To see how many people visit our website and which pages they read, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It works without cookies, does not track you across other websites and does not build a profile of you. We only see totals, such as page views, countries and the type of device.
Checking availability and booking
- To show live prices, your dates and number of guests are sent to Beds24, our booking system. No personal details are sent at this step.
- When you book, you enter your name, email address, country and optional details on our booking page, which is provided by Beds24. We use this information to manage your booking, contact you about your stay and meet our legal duties as an accommodation provider.
- Payments are processed by our payment provider Pesapal, which is regulated by the Bank of Tanzania. We never see or store your card details. To start a payment, our payment service (run on Cloudflare) passes your booking number, the amount, your name, email address, phone number and country to Pesapal. It keeps your first name and stay details (dates, room, number of guests, total price) for 14 days, to show your booking confirmation page, and then deletes them.
- If you book through Airbnb or Booking.com, their own privacy policies also apply.
Contacting us
If you message us on WhatsApp or by email, we use your messages and contact details only to answer you and to look after your stay. WhatsApp is operated by Meta and has its own privacy policy.
Who we share data with
Only with the services we need to run our website and your stay: Cloudflare (website hosting and our payment service), Beds24 (booking system), Pesapal (payments), and the booking platform you used, if any. We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
Booking records are kept for as long as required for accounting and legal purposes. Messages are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time which data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, where the law allows. Guests from the EU and UK also have the rights described in the GDPR, including the right to complain to their data protection authority. Write to welcome@cocohutzanzibar.com.
