Zanzibar through the year

When to come

Hot & dry

January – February

Sunny and hot, around 30–33 °C, with calm, clear sea. Great for the beach and snorkelling.

Long rains

March – May

The masika season: heavy showers, often in the afternoon, and a green, quiet island. April is the wettest month.

“Cool” & breezy

June – October

Dry and pleasant, around 26–29 °C, with a fresh trade wind. The most popular time to visit.

Short rains

November – December

The vuli season brings short tropical showers between sunny spells. Busy again from mid-December.

Temperatures are typical daytime highs. The water stays warm all year.

Brand new

Cocohut II: five more en-suite rooms are on the way.

Our second house adds five more en-suite rooms, a shared kitchen and, later, a rooftop terrace. It's a good fit for groups, families and longer stays.

Questions, answered

Anything else? Ask Maso on WhatsApp. Hakuna matata.

How does check-in work?

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00. Check-in is self check-in with a smart lock: we send you your door code before you arrive, and our guard is on site 24/7. Arriving early? Send us your flight time and we’ll have the room ready early whenever we can.

What about power cuts?

Power cuts happen in Zanzibar, so the house now runs on solar power with a battery backup. When the grid goes down, the house keeps running.

Which spaces are shared?

Your bedroom and bathroom are private. The kitchen and garden are shared with the other guests in your house.

Can you arrange airport transport?

Yes. We arrange a taxi to or from Zanzibar airport for USD 45. Send us your flight number and the driver will be waiting.

Is breakfast included?

We don’t serve food, but the kitchen is fully equipped, there’s a mini-shop nearby and Kendwa has plenty of restaurants.

Is there a pool?

No pool. Kendwa Beach is an 8–10 minute walk away, and you can swim there at almost any tide.

Can I work from here?

Yes. There’s free WiFi throughout and every room has a proper desk and chair.

What are the house rules?

Quiet hours are 22:00–07:00. Smoking is outdoors only. Each booking can have up to 2 visitors, and overnight guests must be registered. Rooms are cleaned daily between 11:00 and 13:00; hang the door hanger to skip it. Laundry costs 1,000 TZS per piece.

What is the cancellation policy?

Book direct on this website: you pay securely by card when you book, and cancellation is free until 3 days before arrival, with a full refund. On Airbnb and Booking.com, free cancellation ends 5 days before arrival.
